Maya Delilah stuns with velvety new single, Actress, a masterclass in understated, soul-infused pop. 

Hackney born singer-songwriter creates a tantalising level of intimacy throughout their new single, relying on their silky yet earthy vocals to transport the listener to imagined scenes of a little dark, underground bar in Soho, where the audience sit staring, entirely captivated by the artist. These vocals become siren like throughout the track, with layering and echo effects used across the choruses to elevate the lush tones of Delilah, entrancing the listener even further. 

If one can be drawn away from the vocals, then there is plenty more to sink yourself into. Beginning and ending with a lo-fi, atmospheric instrumental that works to evoke the scenery further, the track has a full-circle effect where listeners are pulled out from reality for 3 minutes and 58 seconds and dropped back in again. The seductive tones of the guitar peppered throughout add to this, drawing out the soul of the single and bringing warmth to this mysterious and provocative track.

Released shortly after singles Necklace and Silver Lining, Actress feels like a very different side to Delilah compared to the more melodic and perhaps expected nature of these two tracks. This enigmatic vibe is one we can hope to hear more of from the singer, as they continue to gift us with original tracks that leave the audience begging for more.
