NEW SINGLE RELEASE
Cate - Rocket Science

By Matilda Stokes

Any hint of a country twang in pop songs is always attention-catching, and it’s never too early to start searching for the song of the summer; especially in these chilly winter months. Luckily, Cate; a Canadian-born, London-based pop musician has released stellar back-to-back singles titled ‘Rocket Science’ and ‘You Don’t Love Me’.

Though not a typical summer anthem, if you’re going through a tough time at the moment - be it January Blues or Boy Troubles - ‘Rocket Science’ can hold your hand until you’re out of the thick of it. Cate vividly paints a picture of pain and loss in relationships, detailing how unreciprocated and unappreciated actions contribute to the demise of the couple’s relationship.

If you're in the mood for a pop-country fix, it would be difficult to find a better option than the sliding guitars, bright and breathy vocals, and 808 drums showcased in ‘Rocket Science’. These elements mix and intermingle to construct a twangy soundscape, warm and inviting against the melancholy backdrop of the track. The song concludes with the impactful title line ‘Loving Me Isn’t Rocket Science,’ truly emphasising the soft pop-country fusion.

Cate’s look pays homage to their childhood icons Hannah Montana and Dolly Parton; sporting a sleek blonde fringe, adorned in pastel-coloured clothes, and complemented by bright pink lipsticks to match.

Fresh off Maisie Peter’s tour, where they provided support, and their recent performance at The Great Escape Festival, 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for this emerging pop sensation.
