Bored At My Grandmas House, AKA Amber Strawbridge releases their new, existential single ‘How Do You See The World?’. The talented Leeds based artist provides us with another dreamy, indie-pop tune, which will be the 6th track on their upcoming debut album Show & Tell, releasing on June 7th via CLUE Records / EMI North.

This track provides lyrical depth that refreshingly sets itself apart from the saturated pop landscape of love songs. Strawbridge says “HDYSTW is a song I wrote about humanity’s greed, ignorance and lack of accountability surrounding the state of the world we live in. It’s about how we as humans still prioritise material goods, wealth and power rather than sustainability within society”. Writing from introspection, Strawbridge highlights the roots of humanities cracks with the lyrics; “Something’s wrong in this world. The culprits seem to be ourselves’’.

Strawbridge’s vocals have an effortless and gentle delivery throughout the song, gliding over the colourful instrumentation, and satisfyingly contrasting the deeper subject matter. The drums deliver a head bopping foundation and

varies in intensity, with the percussion dropping to just the shakers as she first poses the question “How do you see the world we’re living in?’’ to intimately hone in on the message. Meanwhile, there is a pleasant mix of shimmering guitar melodies glossing over the track, with distorted guitar strumming, supporting the irritation of the lyrics.

This single leaves us pondering, sharing a similar disheartenment to Strawbridge at the state of the world, and its vain, materialistic consumption. At the same time, the sweet combination of the ethereal vocals and melodic instrumentation allows for a playful, easy-listening experience.
